Modern Slavery Statement
Removals Kennington Modern Slavery Commitment
Removals Kennington is firmly committed to conducting its business in an ethical and responsible manner. We recognise that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation are serious global issues that can occur in any country, sector, or supply chain. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out our approach to identifying, preventing, and addressing modern slavery risks within our operations and supply chains.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery. This applies to every aspect of our business, including our direct workforce, agency workers, contractors, and all levels of our supply chain. No abuse of labour rights, including forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, servitude, or human trafficking, will be tolerated.
All colleagues, managers, and business partners are expected to act with integrity and to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct. Any breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
Our commitment to preventing modern slavery extends throughout our supplier network, including providers of vehicles, packing materials, storage facilities, and labour services. Before engaging new suppliers, we conduct risk-based due diligence to assess their ethical standards, labour practices, and compliance with applicable laws.
Suppliers are required to confirm that they do not use forced, compulsory, or trafficked labour and that their employment practices respect the rights and dignity of workers. Where appropriate, we seek written confirmations of compliance with modern slavery legislation and our own ethical requirements.
We conduct supplier audits and reviews on a risk-prioritised basis. These may include questionnaires, site visits, or requests for supporting documentation. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to demonstrate adequate controls or corrective action when concerns are identified, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Training, Awareness, and Responsibilities
Responsibility for implementing this Modern Slavery Statement rests with the senior management team of Removals Kennington, who oversee policy development, supplier oversight, and monitoring of compliance. Line managers are responsible for ensuring that their teams understand and follow our standards.
We provide relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management, with information and guidance on recognising the signs of modern slavery and on how to escalate any concerns. Awareness of modern slavery risks is integrated into our broader approach to health, safety, and ethical conduct.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Everyone working for or with Removals Kennington is encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery without delay. Concerns may relate to our own operations or to the conduct of suppliers, contractors, or other business partners.
Reports can be made to line managers or to senior management. We will treat all concerns seriously and, where possible, confidentially. No person will suffer retaliation or detrimental treatment for raising a concern in good faith, even if it is later found to be unsubstantiated.
When a concern is raised, we will investigate promptly and take appropriate action. This may include engaging with the supplier, seeking expert advice, contacting relevant authorities, or ending a business relationship where serious breaches are identified.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process requiring vigilance and continuous improvement. We are committed to regularly reviewing our policies, procedures, and supplier oversight mechanisms to strengthen our approach.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective and reflects current legislation, guidance, and best practice. As part of this review, we consider any identified incidents, audit findings, feedback from workers and suppliers, and changes in our business activities or supply chains.
By maintaining a clear zero-tolerance stance, strengthening supplier audits, promoting open reporting channels, and committing to regular review, Removals Kennington aims to play its part in combating modern slavery and safeguarding the rights and dignity of all workers connected to our business.
